The Elements
All specimens are ethically sourced, always.
Winged specimens come from the Alabama and Florida Gulf Coast, and they are found by the artist after their natural death. Gulf Fritillaries, Buckeyes, Swallowtails, and Cloudless Sulfurs are among the many native species that feed on and flourish around the flora of the Gulf Coast. Monarchs love the pine trees of the Alabama Coast and can be found roosting by the thousands in the woods in late November during their migration.
Snake shedding is sourced from the woods as well as from pet snakes that belong to friends of the artist.
The Process
Pendants and earrings are created using a stained glass method with lead-free silver solder. Each piece of glass is carefully hand cut.
Caring for Your Pieces
Because pieces are constructed with fragile materials, they should be handled with care. Just like any other glass piece, if dropped it could break. As the loving owner of your one of a kind Mariposa Mamma piece, you should avoid exposing your jewelry to moisture, extreme temperatures, and long periods of direct sunlight to avoid damage and fading. This just means remembering to take off your adornments before swimming, showering or exercise, remove them before sleep, and keep them in a safe, dry environment.
Over time, the luster of the silver solder will dull as the solder becomes oxidized. This is a natural process that allows you to grow with your pieces and see how they change over time. The integrity of the piece will remain as the silver solder goes through an aging process.
Materials and Processing
MariposaMamma is a one-woman business. Each piece is made by hand, with gratitude for the creature that found its way to be celebrated in these pendants. Unless otherwise specified in their description, pendants come on a stainless steel 16-18" adjustable chain and earrings come on sterling silver hooks and posts.

Returns and Exchanges
Returns may be made within 5 days of the date it was delivered to the customer. Email me ASAP using the contact messaging box to discuss the reason for your return. I do not accept exchanges.
