Mutual Aid
Mutual aid is a way to support community members, create networks of care, and share our resources to meet the needs of those who are fighting the root causes of the challenges we face as a society.
Some of these societal issues include access to healthcare and housing, the prevalence of racism, discrimination against the LGBTQA+ community, access to food, equal access to education, discrimination against immigrants, access to reproductive care, and the decimation of our natural environment.
That's a lot to list, isn't it?
That's why mutual aid is so important. We take care of each other.
Mutual aid is also about recognizing that "community" is a verb, and should be implemented on a global scale.
Acknowledging the impacts that capitalistic consumerism has on each other is a step toward making healthier choices for the whole world.
A portion of sales goes to mutual aid efforts each month.
I switch up the organizations from time to time, and do my best to remember to update those organizations on this page.
Currently, I am sharing resources with the following organizations/individuals:
Roody, a young Haitian artist and teacher facing unimaginable circumstances while working to inspire other youth and provide them with skills to better their chances for a future.
Healthy Gulf- "Healthy Gulf’s programs focus on a just transition that moves us away from extractive systems of energy production, consumption, and political oppression, and towards resilient, regenerative and equitable economies."
A Gulf Coast resident my entire life, I have witnessed the devastating effects of climate change, climate injustice, water pollution, and habitat destruction. A Healthy Gulf provides action items for community members to learn and get involved in their mission, which is listed below:
"Healthy Gulf’s purpose is to collaborate with and serve communities who love the Gulf of Mexico by providing the research, communications, and coalition-building tools needed to reverse the long pattern of over exploitation of the Gulf’s natural resources."
