MARIPOSA MAMMA
Metamorphic adornments from the natural world.
The Elements

The existence of each butterfly wing, dragonfly wing, or snake shedding is a marvel of nature. When joined together by metal and glass, the raw natural unites with human experience through ingenuity and design. Otherwise-unnoticed elements such as wings of dead insects and pieces of snake shedding are the focal points of each piece.

All specimens are ethically sourced, always.

Winged specimens come from the Alabama and Florida Gulf Coast and are collected after natural death. Gulf Fritillaries, Buckeyes, Swallowtails, and Cloudless Sulfurs are among the many native species that flourish among the flora of the Gulf Coast. Monarchs love the pine trees of the Alabama Gulf Coast and can be found roosting by the thousands in the woods in late November during their migration. To learn more about some of the butterflies sourced for Mariposa Mamma, visit the Mariposa page.

Snake shedding is sourced from the woods as well as pet snakes that belong to friends of the artist.

The metal is a lead-free silver solder that is a mix of copper and tin.

Necklaces come on 16-18" adjustable stainless steel chain unless otherwise specified. Earrings come on sterling silver posts and hooks.

Your jewelry requires special care. It should not get wet or spend time around moist environments. It should be removed before strenuous activity and sleeping. A dry place away from direct sunlight is the perfect place to store your jewelry.
